Mitchell Cookson is a trained mechanical engineer and self-taught software developer. While attaining a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Missouri University of Science & Technology, Mitchell worked on various software side projects involving embedded systems and digital control. These projects led Mitchell to meet future co-founder Lucas Wyland while the two were at university (MS&T).
In 2017, Mitchell teamed up with Lucas to work on a prototype for a cryptocurrency tax software system they referred to as CryptoTrader.Tax (later rebranded to CoinLedger).
