Arkansas crypto taxes

How Arkansas taxes your crypto gains

CoinLedger serves Arkansas entirely remotely, one dedicated crypto tax expert from the first import to filed forms.

We work with crypto investors across Arkansas, including Little Rock, Fort Smith, Fayetteville, Springdale, Jonesboro, entirely online, so a crypto tax accountant near you is one form away.

Arkansas taxes crypto gains as income, and 2026 is the fourth straight year of rate cuts. A May 2026 special session (HB1001 and SB1) lowered the top rate from 3.9% to 3.7%, retroactive to January 1. The Department of Finance and Administration runs two rate tables: higher earners pay 2% then 3.7% above about $4,600, while most filers use a graduated table that starts at 0% and climbs through 2%, 3%, and 3.4% to the 3.7% top rate.

Arkansas gives investors a real break. The state excludes 50% of net long-term capital gains from income, so crypto held more than a year is taxed on only half the gain, a top effective rate near 1.85%. Gains above $10 million in a single year are 100% exempt. Short-term crypto, held a year or less, gets no exclusion and is taxed as ordinary income.

The DFA receives your federal return data and can match it against what you report on Form AR1000F. Part-year and nonresident filers use Form AR1000NR. Getting the holding period and cost basis right across exchanges is what decides whether your gain qualifies for the 50% exclusion, which is where a crypto tax professional earns their fee.

Worth knowing

Arkansas-specific considerations

50% long-term exclusion

Arkansas excludes half of net long-term capital gains. Crypto held over a year is taxed on only 50% of the gain, so nailing the holding period matters.

$10 million super-exclusion

Net capital gains above $10 million in one tax year are 100% exempt from Arkansas tax, a rare break for large crypto exits.

Rates keep falling

Arkansas has cut its top rate four years running, down to 3.7% for 2026. The moving target makes a current-year crypto accountant valuable.

Don't take our word for it

Done For You Made My Crypto Taxes Easy.

Starting the process was easy and my assigned representative was highly knowledgeable and completed my case quickly so I was able to get the information to my tax preparer well before the tax filing deadline. Based on new IRS guidance I would never have been able to prepare the crypto portion of my return without the work done by Coinledger. This was a great experience.

Highly recommend the Done-For-You program

I was very pleased with the Done For You program offered by CoinLedger. The onboarding process was quick and thorough. My contact person did a great job steering me through how to get the information needed despite my lack of technical knowledge. He was able to collect and reconcile five years of data, including Celsius bankruptcy losses, and give me US-compliant tax forms for multiple accounts.

Impressive follow-through on a genuinely complex case

I hired CoinLedger's Done For You service to reconcile several years of crypto activity across multiple exchanges and wallets, a case complicated by staking income and a high volume of transactions. When the initial report showed higher gains than I expected, they dug back in, found a handful of transactions misclassified by a software bug, corrected it, and my total capital gains came down by roughly a third. Upfront, accurate, and willing to get it right.

Professional and friendly service

Jamie did an excellent job putting my crypto data in order. I had years of disorganized data from exchange closures and transfers across wallets. Jamie was able to find the missing cost basis for my crypto and prepared accurate IRS forms for filing. I would recommend this service to anyone who needs a once-and-for-all clean up of their crypto tax data.
